We love working with the best

Behind every object we make are craftspeople who practice techniques older than any border — methods refined by generations, shaped by trial, error, and repetition until they become expressive and precise.

Learning them takes a lifetime, and they are passed down working side by side with people who have spent decades doing the same.

Working with these experts is not just a privilege, it is why we do this. The pages that follow describe how an object actually gets made at Singular Space, from the first instinct that something is missing to the day we let it leave the workshop.

We start with what is missing

Every piece of ours begins the same way: we lack a specific object in our own life. We go looking for it and can't find it anywhere.

Not because we are the first to think of it, but because nothing that exists meets the standard we have in our head — something exceptional, one of a kind. Something built to be the last of its kind you'd ever need.

When our search keeps coming up empty for long enough, we stop searching and start designing.

A true partner thinks along

Excellent craftsmanship is becoming more rare. Our collaborators are some of the last practicing their ancient crafts.

Each one chosen because their standard was already as high as ours before we walked in. Real partners bring their own expertise to the table, teaching us and shaping the piece as true collaborators instead of just taking instructions.

Finding the right partner for a project is one of the hardest parts.

The masters we work with have spent lifetimes inside a single discipline, and the relationships are built over years. While they sign their work and we let you know their rough location, we don't publish their full names or their exact workshop location.

Iteration makes the difference

Most work is translation and alignment — moving a vision from one head into another and eventually into a physical object.

We share references, drawings, examples, counterexamples. We explain the same idea five different ways until it lands. We write, we sketch, we send photos, we argue gently about finishes and tolerances and weight.

Physical samples are expensive and slow — we try to make sure we are on the same page before we ask anyone to cut material. When a sample is produced, we try to maximise how many things we investigate with each one and usually produce four or five different ones over the next months.

Each sample closes the distance between the imagined, what human hands can actually produce, and what specific techniques demand. None of this is fast. None of it is meant to be.

Before we let go

A finished piece still has to carry the intent we started with — through every revision and compromise it remains opinionated.

It has to feel layered and complex, because touch is how we actually experience the physical world.

And it has to be built to last — not for years, but generations.

We rest when it feels inevitable

A first version arrives quickly — the distance from there to the final object is where we spend most of a year, sometimes more, closing gaps almost no one could name.

When every angle and surface has stopped feeling like a possibility and started feeling like a conviction, we're close.

The people who live with our pieces won't know what we did. They will simply feel their stillness.

We want to stay involved

An object leaving the workshop is not the end of our work on it, it's the start of our relationship with you.

We want to service what we sell for as long as it's possible, and we want the people who live with our pieces to know how to care for them properly.

Objects last when the people around them know what they need. We will guide you on care, help with refresh and repairs where the material allows, and will stay available for any questions after the sale.

The promise is simple: we want you to keep these objects for life and we will help you however we can to do that.

Nothing that lasts is made with urgency.
